  1. Gudgeon Gobies

I recently released a few more anthias and gudgeon gobies into the reef. Here are two of the six gobies. The new fish were bathed in Safety Stop last Saturday and then placed in the Peacemaker for a few days - my usual procedure.

And then last night in total darkness I spied the tiger cowrie on the front glass, so I had to get a few pictures. These came out pretty nice considering I was shooting in the dark.

  2. This week's video is up (Durso Standpipe tweak)

One of the easiest things to set up is the Durso Standpipe. It's all I've used on all my tanks for over 10 years. The 60g has been gurgling slightly under the lid, and the lid was actually adding sound akin to an echo. I decided I needed to make a small adjustment, and it worked perfectly. The video discusses it:

I also received a bunch of frags from a friend yesterday, so they had to be dipped and secured to something. Using some Ecotech ...

  3. New critters

My main reef has some valonia here and there that Spock can't get due to their location, so I decided I wanted to add some emerald crabs. However, I have a Melanurus and a Mystery wrasse and my concern is that they'd be devoured as tasty snacks. I did some homework via Google and the articles I read didn't indicate a problem, so I'm going for it. I'll be sure to update y'all if in fact one or both of these wrasses hunt down my new emeralds.

I bought them before the LFS closed, ...

  4. Two new eels - or - Eels On A Plane

At MACNA, I spotted a pair of Golden Dwarf Moray eels on Friday that I was sure would sell immediately. They were paired up already, best friends for life. Come Sunday afternoon, they were still for sale much to my surprise. I've been wanting one for a long time, but two is twice as nice, right?!

Little haggling was done. We agreed upon a price and they attempted to bag them up. The first one went into the bag with no fuss, but the second ...

  5. Next Wave was fun and I came home with a new item

After many months of planning, Next Wave was another good show. Attendees made it a point to hear each of the four speakers throughout the day on May 3, 2014. I ran my booth all day long, selling products normally offered online. Here's that blog entry, posted on Melev's Reef: http://melevsreef.com/blog/back-back-shows-05042014

When I was able to break away from my booth, I spotted a nice anemone that I thought would be a good addition to the Anemone Cube. I was told it was a bubble ...
