  2. Water testing day

    Today was catch up on everything that needed doing. Had to get a sump built, fix my darn sprinklers, get a frag into an Interceptor bath, clean the skimmer and do all my water tests. The tank is doing very well, numbers-wise:

  3. And then there were four...

    I'm folding laundry while watching tv when suddenly I hear some type of rumbling sound. Quickly pausing the show, i tried to ascertain the source of the noise, but none of the pumps sounded abnormal. I head over to the other end of the tank to check the Vortech pumps and it does sound like one is louder than expected, but not the noise I heard at first. As I peer into the dark reef, I see my red serpent starfish heading away like a wounded animal, pulling itself across the sand with four legs. ...

  5. Are you quarantining all your new corals & frags?

    We are always going to get new items for our reefs, from other hobbyists, from fish stores, online and at frag swaps. Frags are bought and sold willy nilly and within mere hours pictures are posted of those new acquisitions. What concerns me is that those new pieces appear to be in your reef tanks and not in a temporary quarantine system.
