  1. Return pump failure

I don't know when I got the Dart pump that runs the 400g's return flow (from the sump), but I'm guessing 2011. When I turned on the return pump, it needed a little help to get started - which has been the case for the past week. Using a flathead screwdriver, I can insert it into the driveshaft's slot and give it a small twist and ...

  3. When you walk near your tank, look closely...

I walk past my 60g cube all the time, and always look how things are doing. What caught my eye made me smile, and I grabbed my camera to share it with y'all.

I've seen hermits make their way up the silicone bead to the top of the tank, but to see this one hanging onto the snail's shell with no exit strategy in place was pretty funny. There's some algae on the shell that the hermit no doubt wanted, but the snail wasn't too pleased ...

  4. A rainy Sunday blog

Overall the reef is doing well. Corals are growing and stinging each other as they seek space. I'm intentionally growing some cyano bacteria for an upcoming video on treatment. The tank is pretty overall, but needs some additional cleaning to make it look the way I prefer it. For now, the glass is swiped to keep the film algae off of it, but I'd like to tinker, remove some stuff and clean the area between the sand and the glass. All the Vortech wetsides need to be soaked and cleaned.
