  1. lawnmower blenny and tiger pistol shrimp!

    ok, i will make this real quick because I can not believe what I am seeing in my tank right now. I have not seen my tiger pistol shrimp in months...literally I have not seen this shrimp since I added him to the tank months ago. Well over the last few days I have notices his burrow has gotten much larger over night than previously. Well I am not sure if there is any history to this but I have just watched the lawnmower blenny "stand watch" while the tiger pistol comes out of the burrow ...
  2. sps update (no pictures sorry)

    Just a quick update on the current status of my tank and newest attempt at acropora as well as an update on a couple of others. Fist off I am excited to say that it appears I seem to be getting some new growth at the tips of my acropora and also I seem to have some very nice coloration changes in the new growth on the tips. All of the polyps are very open and eager at all times.

  3. new corals need a nice friendly ID

    Well upon encouragement from Melev I am attempting SPS once again. I went to the LFS Saturday and found these specimens:

    The above SPS is purple with small green polyps, It was next to the below acroporas but I couldn't get an ID from the LFS nor have I seen this particular growth style online yet.

    There are actually two different acropora on this rock with a small frag of the green left ...

  4. Spring cleaning!

    Well it has been quite some time since I have posted on here so here we go. Sunday I decided to take the time and perform an annual cleaning of the equipment, sump, sand, rocks, refugium, and tank. I cleaned all the non calcium based algae off of the overflow and the votech power heads but I could not find my old Korelia pumps in time for me to willingly soak the power heads long enough to clean coralline off of them and honestly I am quite content with the overflow being covered in it so it will ...
