Want to Get Anemone

I have been holding off on getting corals because I want an anemone to find a spot so it doesn't kill any coral. I have two clarkii clown fish and the female is probably 4-5 inches long. That means that I am going to need a big anemone, the only problem is I don't have money for a big one. I don't mind much on what kind of anemone I get as long as it is not brown and has a bright color. I was thinking about buying a small anemone and growing it out in my refugium. My refugium only has sand, rock, and a little chaeto algae. If I did this I would put the chaeto in a net breeder. My biggest question is what kind of CHEAP DIY lighting can I get away with for the anemone while it is in the refugium? (something that will grow it not only keep it alive)

    Do your research first not all anemone's are clown friendly.

    You'll need a lot of light to maintain the anemone in the refugium zone. Why not put the anemone in the tank instead, partitioning it so the clowns can't get to it? That way it can grow in for a while?

    You still have the risk of it moving around. I've got a few in my 400g and I have to watch where my corals are and move them out of their way from time to time.

    Is it ok to put an anemone in a net breeder? If not then how do you suggest separating it? Again the clownfish are clarkiis and they will go straight into it.

    You could I suppose. You can peel it off later but again you still have the challenge of hoping it will go where you want it to live.

    A divider (eggcrate) in the display tank would keep the clowns at bay.
