This algae began to grow on my maxima clam shell a few weeks back and has since spread to an adjacent piece of rock. As you know, clams do not like high flow so, that area is not devoid of flow but was specifically chosen becase of the relatively low flow in regard to the rest of the tank as well as placement to get the best light. ...

  3. Some reflector testing

Back in mid-2009, I did some testing because of the variety of reflectors people were asking about. This entry will be about the Lumenbright series as well as the LumenMax Elite.

From this angle, you can see how thick (tall) each reflector is. After all, how much room you have in the canopy dictates what fits and what doesn't.

The last thing on my mind a month ago was setting up a 162 gallon reef tank. I was actually packing for 11 days in Cancun with my wife. My low maintenance 37 gallon FOWLR tank has been running for 9 years, and I was not too concerned about leaving it for the trip.

  5. Bald skulls are out, dress 'em up!

They say for everything thing out there, there's a buyer. Will that hold true with this prize? Here's a guy who's dog swiped a toy from the kid next door, and he thought "Hey, I'll grow some coral horns on it, and people will buy it!"

Assuming that's true, we have to document the pictures here in case it sells and is never seen again.
