That quickie picture today was merely a teaser

Rate this Entry
Today, when I went out to the garage to work on getting the wall insulation installed, I was greeted with a big wet spot coming out from under the garage door. I thought I'd gotten this taken care of last night, but it turns out that I was wrong.

Here's that faucet, a simple one with a quarter-turn to shut it off quickly.

The leak was obvious.

"It wasn't me..."

The caps were removed, teflon tape applied, the caps screwed back on tightly, and the area dried up nicely.

The sheetrock work, mostly done.

Btw, this is my son Phillip.

A couple of rolls of R13 insulation almost was enough.

Then we took down the pink foam barrier.

My son grabbed my camera, allowing me to get into the action for a change.

Yes, it's a mess but it's MY mess.

Hey Marc thanks for the update i am sure we all have been waiting for one. As for the mess i think all great things are born from one and the bigger the mess the better it will be. :P lol

Looking good Marc. One question, what's the humidity like in there with all those open top holding "tanks"?

So, what, no dump under construction on the table?
  4. melev's Avatar
No, not quite yet. I'll probably start my own after Thanksgiving.

Humidity has been between 55% and 64%.

Looking good! Do you have an ETA on when you will start to fill the tank?

Things always look messier before they get better don't they.
But don't you need to leak test it before you completely wall it in?

That giant stuffed clown is screaming to be the first fish in the tank.

    Watch the fan!!!!

It won't be walled in. And Marineland already leak tested it. I'm not worried about that yet.

I'd like to get the room done by Thanksgiving, then wehen I get back from that I'll go ahead and start getting the tank up and running.

Dunno about anyone else, but I was all: "watch that ceiling fan!" followed by: "watch the TV!!!!" when looking at the pics.

Any chance you have a pic of you standing next to the old tank for comparison?

Pretty! What camera are you using now? Nikon D-80?

A bizarre comment: I have to say I notice a change in your posture between photos of you pre-back problems, and photos of you now!

So much for "compression" fittings, right Wes? Tape was definitely needed.

I'm sure I can find an older picture Robb. I'm still trying to picture this tank with a clean livingroom. And yes, my son told me the exact same thing - watch the fan; watch the tv, watch the speaker on the wall above the tv.

I've been shooting with a Nikon D90 this year, Catherine. My back pain is managed with happy pills. Fortunately, I only have to take 3 or 4 per week, if I'm not overtaxing my body. I may end up getting another spinal injection; the first one really helped, and a second one might do the trick.

FWIW, I have never had any luck with caps for compressions fittings. With about three different attempts each one of them had a very poor seal.

looks great marc, i'm know my self and many others we appriciate all the up dates. almost like being pregnant, with all the latest pic's of the development stages. i'm sure youv'e talked about it before but what is the electronics controller your using, i'm getting tired of several power strips and timers with wire going everywhere.

I've got the Aquacontroller 3 by Neptune Systems. I'm on the fence between the Apex and the Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper Elite Net - so for now I may stick with what I have for a little longer.
