A few iphone pictures from some current efforts

The DIY continues unabated. I decided to get the garage side of the walls sheetrocked with 5/8" material (fire grade). That way I could soon use those walls to better use, hanging tools of them or simply using them to lean stuff against. The poofy insulation bats were annoying, and not helping keep the temperature in my house as well as it should.

It took a couple of hours one afternoon to get the pieces cut and installed.

Later that night, I opted to get some mud on the walls.

The power subpanel and the sprinkler system are nice and tidy.

This is the door from the garage going into the fishroom. The red side used to face the 280g reef tank. Now it faces the garage. Since taking this picture, the door trim has been nailed in place.

This is the access panel to the hot & cold water pipes. I inserted some insulation batting to keep the pipes protected. The panel is snugly fit into the sheetrock; I got lucky and cut out the hole exactly right -- which was completely unexpected.

The door going into the fishroom from the livingroom side was finally yanked out and reversed, and I'm VERY happy with that decision. I knew from the planning stages that I wanted to do this, and I remember someone tellilng me it was a bad idea. Well, I'm happy to report that I was right and they were completely wrong. lol

The acrylic came in today for my new sump, and I'll be starting on that tomorrow. I have to build a new sump, and a separate RO/DI reservoir that will fit under the tank inside the steel stand.

I also got a second box from EzTube today, which was completely unexpected. For some reason I got more product, and the wrong color. So tomorrow I'm going to do two things: Call them up to get it returned, and find out if they charged me twice. Maybe I'll assemble the light rack framework tomorrow as well.

I need to mix up the patch concrete I bought and float out the area under the tank so the sump sits level, and taper it off to drain toward the french drain. Not a thing I really want to do, but I've got to do it. Tomorrow is probably going to be a very busy day.

Hey Marc, can you share some details about that access panel for the hot and cold water? What kind of valve, where you found the panel, etc?

Sure, I'll get some new pictures taken so you can see it all better. I found the panel at Home Depot, and I think it was about $8.

Thanks man. I'm having a custom house built now and we're just at the point where we're going to install the aquarium plumbing rough-ins and nobody that I talk to has any ideas to help me with. All I know is that I want to do it now, before there's drywall in my way.

Hey Marc, looks good, are you going to do a article on building sumps for the site. I know you have all the ones on your personal site, but I believe some of the info is probably dated and you are probably using some new techniques.

Awesome Marc. Getting closer to water in the tank every week. Is the Rabbit providing "bio Pellets" for the new system?
