Should have paid a little more attention to the top view of your tank. I would have noticed the eurobracing. ;-)

Haha. Very nice. Looks much more mature than 3 months!

    Really like the corner camera shots. That overflow concept is catching on ... Marc, few questions as I'm planning my next tank;
I'm see two layers of something under your tank? Two shades of black stuff? I can't quite see how the overflow box attaches, does the end Eurobrace become the top of the overflow? Is your bottom euro braces assembled like the top exactly? How far off the bottom? What did the engineers say regarding vibration of drain and return pipes effect to OF box? Any support under the box? If you give me the search keywords to hit the right thread, I can go that route too.

On the bottom of the tank you are seeing 1" plywood painted black and the bottom of the tank frame. He recently covered the overflow with black acrylic to lesson noise and spray. However, mark your pristine sump looks dirtier and dirtier every time, maybe this is too much tank for you, lol.

I love the look that you have taken this time around! You have managed to make to tank look packed full of coral and live rock with miles of swimming space all at the same time. I know in past times you have been told that your tank wasn't "tank of the month" material.... So long to those days! Keep up the great work, and thank you for the motivation! In the 84" shot it looks so clear! Are you running Ozone without telling us?, or do you think it's the Bio Pellets?

His sump is still prettier than any I've seen. I can't wait for his 1500 gallon build! ...You know you want it Marc!

The base of the tank has black plastic trim, then the sheet of 3/4" plywood, and then the steel stand itself.

The eurobrace runs on three sides. it is two layers of 1/2" glass overlapping in the corners closest to the kitchen. They didn't put any near the overflow, which I would have preferred personally. However, the external overflow is glued onto the end panel, and that flat piece butting up against the end piece does act as a stiffener I'm sure. Under the overflow, a strip of glass was siliconed to the tank to add a little extra support under the overflow itself.

The drains may have a little bit of shudder to them, but that's it. There are no returns going through the overflow, but if there were then it would be prudent to support the plumbing so it doesn't pull on the overflow box.

The tank isn't nearly as clear as I'm used to. It seems a touch cloudy to me. Front to back it isn't as obvious, but from the end looking through 7' of water it does lack the clarity I love. I don't run ozone. I have been using filter socks more often than not, which isn't really like me. I despise cleaning them, so they usually run a week before changing/rinsing. That helps improve the water by eliminating particulates.

The biopellets seem to be doing a great job. And the gorgonians seem to be completely healthy again and free of that stuff that was plaguing them before after dosing Hydrogen peroxide for a week. I still see some bubbly crap (possibly dinoflagellates) in the external overflow that I think I need to sponge out of there to make sure it doesn't get out of control in my system.

I'll clean the sump soon. Not all the time like Steve Weast, but I do prefer keeping it nice looking.

Tank looks great, can't wait to see it fully grown.
How about growth and coloration of your corals are you pleased with what you're getting?
Can you please share the dimensions of the overflow (deapth and height) as We're close to installing the overflow on my tank and I don't want to make it too larg to be able to fit Vortechs under it and not to small to avoid causing a flood...

The over flow is 6" wide, 8" tall and spans the tank completely, so it is 35" from tip to tip. It has five 1.5" drains, which means the holes are each 2 3/8" to 2 1/2" in diameter to accommodate my bulkheads.

The Vortechs on my tank are maybe 3" lower than I would have preferred, but they are working out well. When planning, you have to decide where the pump will go in relation to the drain pipes, or alter how they run with 45 degree fittings to create some extra room perhaps. MP60s are 4" in diameter, and I ended up with 4.25" between the drain pipes.

    Thanks for the info Marc.

melev, how is the return set to not backflow when the return pump is off?
    very nice setup

I have two anti-siphon holes drilled under the center of the Penductor assembly. After about 1/2" of water drains, the siphon is broken.

I wonder how many people out there are looking at this system and saying "that's what I should have done!" Really impressive.
  16. rick12's Avatar
i like the way the electircal is done. my setups are elec. nightmares, LOL. so those red switch powerbars are a great idea. shouldnt they be above the water?
  17. melev's Avatar
Probably, but I needed a spot for the switches and a spot for a frag tank. I call it szzzzynergy.

Love picture number 2 the corner shoot makes the tank look like it fulls the inter fish room. nice selection of animals.

That is the view I have of the tank when I'm watching tv, which is actually my preferred angle. I just can't quite get a photograph to match what I see, but maybe once the woodwork is up it'll be possible.
