  1. Sump Improvements

I removed the sump from the system Sunday a week ago. I just got it installed back in the system Monday evening. While it was out I completed the drain line plumbing to the Sump. I made a acrylic cooling fan holder and also a probe holder that allows probes to be added in the bubble trap. I also made the feet for the corner boxes along with a acrylic cover for mounting float switches to the return compartment and probe holders to the refugium compartment. I was in a hurry so I did not get a lot ...

  2. Sump Cooling Fans

While I was at MACNA my system ran OK with one exception. One of my sump cooling fans went out and took out the fan controller with it. All the fans were off because of this with the exception of the cooling fans for the LED lighting. The water temp did go up to 82 degrees with the fans out. This was not so bad. The real issue is it could have caused a fire since the the circuit board in the fan and the one in the controller had burnt spots. You could smell that burning smell in the room a couple ...

  3. This is a bad idea.

I've always loved mixed materials in buildings and designs. The last home my family built had dark, charcoal grey polished concrete floors. My room had light green walls and rich wood furniture. It was actually very calming. Since then I've played around with a few ideas. I built a concrete fish tank that functioned fine but didn’t come out perfect and I never had a second go at it since it was pretty hard to make. But let’s bring it forward to today. Plywood tanks. I've read up on all the ones ...

  4. Complete tank restart and LED light upgrade

As many of you know I had decided to do a restart on my tank and correct earlier mistakes/lack of knowledge from when I started my tank 2 years ago. Several of my corals were dead or dying and I had placed corals into my tank that I later realized was a mistake (Xenia, blue clove polyps, ect...) I looped my pump return from my sump back into my sump again, kept the skimmer running, maintained a constant temperature, maintained choeto in the refugium, and kept the biopellet reactor operational to ...

  5. Restart Update

Well I thought I would give a quick update on what was going on with my tank restart.

I ordered 50lbs of keylargo rock from Marco Rock that has arrived.

I purchased a 10 gallon tank and filled it up to use as my frag tank, painted the back glass, made a frag rack out of light diffuser, installed a heater, 30 gallon rated biowheel, added a nano korelia, added led lighting, waited for the temperature to level out and started moving over frags. I did not cycle the tank though ...
