hey everyone, just a quick update, the new tank has been setup for just about a month now and everything is looking great! i have not been checking NO3 NO2 or NH3 i can sort of tell where things are at just by looking at the tank, but i have my Mg ALK and Ca all in check :) and my pH is abnormally perfect 8.2day and 8.0night. the initail hair algea bloom is just about over and the cyano bloom is also begining to fade away with less and less each day, just 2 small spots left.

All in all everything is looking very! good espically my corals, in the old tank i had a tricolor which was totally brown, now its bright bright blue and green! i assume its the presance of nutrients, my acans are looking good, and im already seeing growth in my chalice's, the scolly which was dieing is now fully inflated and bouncing back.

Poor iphone pictures, i really screwed up the white balance on my camera trying to get pictures of fire flies

today my LED's came in, i added 8 more royal blue to the fixture so i could turn up my cool whites a little higher, it took me about 30min to get them added in, i can definitly see the diffrence, i also fixed my stray voltage problem which was charging my heatsink...turns out i had a small shard of aluminum making contact with a solder, now i just need to buy longer aluminum so i can space out the units.

the new ones have black stars

it is beautiful here! i spend atlease 3 hours every night fishing :) thats why im not on here as much

My new tank came in earlier in the week! You can tell much more care was taken when building it! Unfortunately, I did not get to keep the other tank to use as a sump :(

Today I gathered up all my frags I really did not want and took them to the LFS, I picked up some frozen food, cash and a frag of an unknown sps that is a yellow green (more yellow)

I then went to the other LFS to grab sand for the new tank, I left with about 70lbs, which should be enough, if it is not ill just use some of my current sand. I also grabbed a leopard wrasse which I will name spot, I’m hoping he will possibly rid my monti of whatever funk it has, because I have no time to remove it and treat it, at least until after the move.
(we are still getting use to having our picture taken)

While I was there, I saw this sad little Acan just screaming to be rescued…one of the employees has had it on hold for quite some time but the parted with it :) i estimate a complete recover time of 8months based on my previous Acan rescues

As I’ve posted before this summer my family is moving about 6 hours north to a small town called Ingleside.

My tank is jam packed with frags that have no room to grow, I’ve now resorted to placing frags on my sand bed. i can only see one solution to this eye sore which is going bigger...

At first i wanted to go Uber big, Then i realized that this is probably my last year or two living at home, and i need to be able to bring this tank with me when i move out...not to mention i don’t want to spend a fortune. Therefore, I have decided to go as big as possible using my current stand, lights and skimmer

The dimensions will be 36x24x20 high, which is 75 gallons, made of 3/8” glass. I have been calling around for quotes in both 1/2” and 3/8” and it seems the average cost was about $600….until I heard a custom tank builder in Toronto was having a special on their glass!! Therefore, the cost of the tank will be $199

I plan to move my light units just a bit further apart to get proper coverage. I also plan to use Marco rocks to avoid the slight bubble algae issue I am currently having, but im going to try and reuse all my sand.

My only problem is trying to figure out how I’m going to move everything and get this new tank setup, when the stand I need is currently supporting my aquarium….help? To all those ReefAddicts out there who have moved, how did you do it?

Hahaha okay so maybe it’s not that nice, its ugly it’s completely browned out so I was able to get it cheap!!! I am almost certain it will color up amazingly, its not visible in the picture but if you look real close inside the polyups you can see electric green! :) Ill be posting pics over the nest couple weeks to keep everyone updated!
