• Tank Raised Atlantic Fish now shipping!

For those of you who love the Atlantic fish as much as I do there is some great news coming out this week from Sustainable Aquatics. Just released this week is their first shipment of Atlantic fish raised from post-larval collections (“tinies”) to the retail market. Your local stores may now order some of the true beauties to come from the Atlantic. Obviously the Queen Angels (Holacanthus ciliaris)
and Blue Angels (Holacanthus isabelita/bermudensis) will be sure fire hits with the masses, but some very beautiful and overlooked fishes are now available including the Blundell wrasse (thank you Scott Michael Thalassoma blundelli, aka Thalassoma bifasciatum) and one of my personal favorites the Porkfish (Anisotremus virginicus - pictured above). Juvenile Porkfish make great parasite cleaners, are very attractive, and make a fabulous addition to nearly all reef aquariums.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Sustainable Aquatics, they are a company based out of Tennessee that captive breeds and captive raises marine fishes. They have outstanding customer support, wholesale pricing, healthy animals, great facilities, and more than anything a positive role in the hobby. I strongly encourage all store owners to try a shipment from SA. You can find them online at www.SustainableAquatics.com.

This IS cool stuff. The LFS will stock what people continuallly ask for, and I'm going to make a point of asking for captive-bred fish, and let them know that I'll pay a higher price for captive-bred if needed.
