House of Fins had their 53rd Anniversary and SPLASH event over the weekend of Oct 2-3, 2010 and I was lucky enough to be contracted to shoot photography to cover the entire event. House of Fins is a retail store with a long history of excellent livestock and customer service. They concentrate their business on three areas, customizing aquarium installation, maintenance, and the retail store in Greenwich, CT. The maintenance side covers Manhattan, NY and Greenwich, CT as well as the surrounding areas.

Just a little eye candy for you. Such a nice tank at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA that is home to clownfish, black & white clowns, hippo tangs, and giant anemones. It is of course adoringly called the Nemo Tank by many of the patrons of the Aquarium.

I got the privilege of hanging out with Joe Yaiullo at Atlantis Marine World in Riverhead, NY this past week. I was lucky enough to get the behind the scenes tour and one of the days I was there, I got to see the shark feeding. The aquarium exhibits a massive 120,000 gallon "Lost City of Atlantis Shark Exhibit" that houses tiger sharks (Carcharias taurus), nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum), and moray eels (Gymnothorax funebris).

Since 2008, I've been attending CRASE. The Oklahoma club COMAS promotes this event with the words "Catch the CRASE" and I have to say, it is a truism. This one day event features great speakers, livestock and drygoods vendors, raffle prizes, and of course the opportunity to hang out with a fun bunch of hobbyists.
