  1. Hi Rangel,

You may find "Black Diamond" carbon at Walmart in the pet section. It's the Walmart brand that is as good as the stuff you get at the LFS. A Phosban reactor can hold up to 3 cups of GAC, and I run it on my reef all the time. I'm trying to change it out weekly, but it usually gets done every two weeks. Not running it isn't an option for my mixed reef. The water gets a little murky, and some coral decline if I don't keep up with it.

  2. Hey marc,

Could you give me some suggestions on activated carbon? Do you use it in your reef and do you think it helps any? Like, have you seen any negative effects for not using it?
Currently in my tank the only filtration in my tank is the skimmer, live rock, bacteria, and a moderately deep sand bed. I was thinking on adding a phosban reactor with an MJ900 to run AC. I'm thinking this will improve my coral/fish health. Your thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rangel
