Waterproofing the inside of my wood tank stand

Does any one have any ideas how to waterproof the inside of my wood tank stand? I was planning on using something called STARCO PERMA-SEAL Flexible Elastomer Coating.

A Multipurpose, continuous coating instant leak sealer. PERMA-SEAL can be applied to any surface to provide a waterproof flexible continuous rubber coating that will stop leaks and act as a barrier against moisture, rust and corrosion.

It comes in black, silver, or white. Are there pros and cons for colors? I know Marc mentioned to keep the sump light away from the skimmer due to possible algae growth. So does that mean White is not a good idea. Too much light reflection throughout the inside of the stand?

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks all.

    i just used Fast-Drying Polyurethane looking back it probabuly wasnt the best idea, if i ever have to pull out my sump i will reseal it with something better and more protective

    I used plastic bathroom/kitchen tile as well as kilz paint and silicone at every interior joint!

    When I sealed mine, I asked on RC and at the local Woodcraft and Sherwin Williams stores. Based on recommendations from all 3, I went with a marine grade spar polyurethane.
