As the tank nears 8 months old, I wanted to share some interesting tidbits. First of all, here's the FTS (Full tank shot) with the left MH not on yet:

And the EOT (End of Tank) shot:

Take a look at that coral on the right. It is a softy leather called a Nepthea. I wanted it to grab onto the "elephant's tooth" rock that I placed in the reef initially. It didn't grab on the first time, so I used a rubber band to try once more. Each day, the band seemed to cut through the leather unfortunately. However, what happened next was a pleasant surprise. It seems to be healing back together.

Theoretically, I'll be able to cut out the rubberband at some point, and the coral will be affixed to the rock and not even look damaged. It looks pretty good from this angle.

This is the view from the backside of the tank, showing that it still has more healing ahead.

While the camera was handy, I took a picture of the colonial Fungia plates my parent colony has been casting off. They've been appearing in various places in the tank and I've been gathering them up into the sandy valley between the reef and the bommie zones. There are nine of them so far.

Here's the parent skeleton from last February, with babies sprouting out as expected. Never toss out a dead fungia plate.

The Ponape birdsnest I got from Ryan many months ago is doing well. Here it is today.

And here is what it came from, last February.

The deep water acropora that was being eaten by an AEFW (Acropora-eating Flatworm) has been healing up nicely.

Two of the Bubble Tip Anemones on the backside of the reef. The Rose is the one that tends to create the most havoc. I'm considering setting up an Anemone tank.

I love the open, horizontal feel of the tank. I wish my tank was that wide! It is cool to see how well the corals heal in the system.

I'll snip it and hopefully tug it out.
