Coigula is the affectionate name of one of my 3 tangs (and my screen name). I have been keeping reefs since 2002 and am on second tank. I have followed some of the trends in hobby and ignored others.

Description from Top Down- Hardware Description only

Lighting: IceCap 2X250 MH Hamilton 10K, 2X54W T5 UV454 and Indgo, 40watts LED 420nm

Tank: Oceanic 140 (tall 120) with cherry cabinet

Refugium: 20 gallon Life Reef Acrylic Custom (14 X 14 X 20)

Sump: Life Reef Custom Sump (24 X 30 X 20)

Controller: AC jr with DC8 and add on HD DC4 run on 2 20 amp breaker panel GFI's. Heart of keeping simple automated aquarium along with ATO and dosing pumps.

Skimmer: Old Euro Reef 24" tall 8" diameter with 90 watt sedra

ATO: Tunze Osmolator with homemade relay to garage using liter meter remote dosing pump, sometimes run through GEO Kalkreactor to sump (cycled on AC jr)

Media Reactor: Carnivore Media reactor with GFO and Carbon on 10 watt eheim pump

Sump Pump: Eheim 1262 split to both overheads and refugium

Heater: Fluval M 300 Watt

Chiller: Drop in from local garage sale 100 on Neptune DC4 with AC jr

Circulation: (2) 6105 Tunze with (2) 6105 safety switches to 100 aH battery. Each pump is on different GFI circuit.

Dosing: (2) Drew's dosers from BRS adding Ca and Alk again run on AC jr.

Future Hardware upgrades are UPS that sent power failure notice and APEX, or at least Tunze controllers.

    Sounds like a nice setup. Let's see some pictures!

    For the UPS to work for power outage detection, you need a second power supply plugged into the controller and UPS. When the first outlet goes dead, the second one powers the controller so it can report the outage. The Apex sure looks like a nice upgrade from the AC Jr.

    All inhabitants still around!

    I ended up getting oversized deep cycle battery and two Tunze Safety relays. The relays were expensive and the Marine Battery is Military grade, but it worked out well many times!
