3 Month Update

Rate this Entry
It has been about 3 months since I filled the tank with water. A couple of weeks back I went to one of the local fish stores and got some sand and a rock with some coralline alga on it from one if their tanks. I was willing to pay for it but they said it was not enough to charge me for it. They said to just remember where I got it. Kudos to them I will defiantly go back. I also added 3 turbo snails at that point. There was some alga starting to grow on the rocks.

Now it has entered the diatom phase as you can see from the photo below. I added some more snails this weekend for the cleanup crew. I still need to layout the rock a little better. At this point they are just piled up. Hopefully I can get to this in the next week or so.

I did manage to finish running the conduit from the garage to the wall next to the tanks. I ran 2 separate 3/4" runs. One run has the tubes for the fluids which are fresh salt water, DI water and waste water. The other conduit has tubing for CO2 and air. It also has a buss cable for the controller to connect the modules that are in the garage to the controller at the tank. It was about a 35 foot run from outlet box to outlet box.

The tank parameters are as follows.
Temp 76.8
pH 8.20
ORP 331
Salinity 32.0
Phosphate 0.04
Nitrate 40
Calcium 385
Magneisum 1450
DKH 7

I did loose one of the cooling fans. After close inspection I found a spot where I missed covering the components near the speed switch. So I guess this one is my fault. They were out of the fan for the time being so it may take awhile to get a replacement in. Otherwise everything is running smoothly equipment wise. I have a Reef Link on order for my MP10's. There is an update to the quiet drive version which I have but I don't have a way to update them without the Reef Link. It will also be helpful to be able to control the pumps from my iPad anyway.
