A Fraggin' Adventure - Part 1 (Introduction)

Hello Everyone!

My name is Wes from the Dallas/Fort Worth area and I have been reefing for just over 5 years now. About a year into it the bug hit me, who would have thought right?! Anyways, I started with a 55 gallon tank my friend gave me and my girlfriend Maria. Since then I have had a 3, 8, 28, 33, 40, 90, and a 210 gallon tank at some point - the 210 is currently my main reef tank. Things never end though and since Maria has a love for all that saltwater has to offer the madness continues (here is a pic of us in the Bahamas, you wouldn’t believe the ricordias there!).

I guess I haven’t had enough pain yet because I have decided it is time for more, and I am not just talking about the empty 125 in my garage...or the 75, but that’s not the point! Back on subject, lol, what I figured I should do this time is something new and different, so I decided it was time for a frag system! Not that I hate those georgous eggcrate contraptions hanging over my 90 gallon tank but they just have to go!

After about *cough* six months *cough* of gathering parts I have finally decided on the last aspect of the system and thus the build begins (did I just admit that? yikes!). The first place I started was obvious, gathering the equipment, but the first true work started with The Sump build which I will get into later next week. I will warn you now, I tend to be long winded, hence the entire first part is only an intro. I will try to at least be short this time since it will be a long work in progress.

Enough with the tease of what is to come, this is just an intro after all (had to get something started here before our big bad ruler melev let me have it ). The main point of my blog entries will be to document my frag rack/system build, its progress over time, and how I am...well, fraggin! I will be following up tomorrow or Monday with an equipment breakdown. Then hopefully I can get into the first real start of the project next week, the sump. It was actually fun and only possible thanks to Marc (here is a pic of the finished product I built that will be covered).

Thanks for your time! Coming up next, Part 2 - Equipment.

Wes
