adjustment issues w/mystery wrasse

Rate this Entry
Soooo. I bought a fairly juvenile mystery wrasse a couple wks ago whose been continuously tormented by my four line wrasse. The similar appearance of the wrasses is one thing that I had overlooked when purchasing my animated newcomer. I also have an exquisite wrasse who seems to pay no attention to his new acquantence. I'm hoping that my four line wrasse's territorial behavior is only temporary and that the mystery wrasse will condition this unwelcoming behavior enough to survive. Any suggestions?

Maybe rearange the rock work? But that may not work. I would decide which one I liked better and remove the other. How big is the tank?

Either introduce new fish in a 'social acclimation' container (where they can see each other but can't reach each other for a few days), or remove the trouble maker and reintroduce him to the tank a couple of days later. That may remove some of the aggression you're seeing.

thanks for the feedback. My tank is 90 gallons. And the four line wrasse has finally stopped his pestering! Yey!! I was considering attempting to take out the bully, but with such a well-stocked tank of fishes and corals I didn't have much confidence in catching the healthy four line w/o tearing apart my tank.
