Update and tank questions

by steven@reev.com on 11-20-2012 at 01:57 PM
Hi everyone, it has been a while. I moved and had to down size a bit. our new house has lots of wood in the house and really no place for an 8 foot tank. in the mean time I had to setup the 240 in the garage. It stayed there for about a year and I really did not take as good care of it as i should have. Now I have a 135 gallon 72x18x24 it has only one overflow on one end in the corner. I do have my same skimmer from the 240 an ev240 with a Mag 18. all of my chems Magnesium, Calcium, Alkalinity,

by steven@reev.com on 08-17-2012 at 10:31 AM
Hi everyone, I have a weird issue. I have two Koralia new version of the size 1400 powerheads and they both run backwards most of the time. does anyone have any idea how to fix this or what is causing it? I have cleaned them and cannot find any reason for the issue. they are only about 2 years old.

Thanks,
-Steven

Algae Bloom

by steven@reev.com on 01-09-2011 at 03:48 PM
Hi all, I had an infestation of flat worms and after treating the tank for those I now have a significant algae bloom. It has been over a month now and I have done two large water changes and all of my water tests are at good levels. but I have a lot of red and green algae and even some of the brown algae on the sand bed.
Any idea of what is going on? or what I can test for? My skimmer is working well, I am not sure what is going on.

Heater Delemma

by steven@reev.com on 01-05-2011 at 12:27 AM
Hi everyone, just for a recap. I have a 240 gallon tank 96 x 24 x24 with an 88 gallon sump.
I am having trouble keeping it up to the correct temp at night. Sometimes it drope to 76 or 75 degrees. I have probably went through ten heaters this last year they work ok for a few months then just quit. I would appreciate any thoughts or recommendations for heaters for large tanks.
thanks,
-Steven

Recommendations for Lighting

by steven@reev.com on 09-28-2010 at 12:09 PM
Hi all, my current tank is 240 gallons and the size is 96 x 24 x24
I currently have 4 250 W MH 20K lights. and 4 T5 54W actinics.
however I do not get the really beautiful effect on some of the corals that I would like.
Marc has suggested I go with the 400W lights. Now after doing some research it has been suggested that I get better reflectors and maybe even some of the new Radium or Elos bulbs.
I understand that some of these new bulbs require electronic ballasts.
