Black clowns are very cool looking and man I want a toadsyool bad! I looked at Petco and they have some very nice looking maroon clowns I want, but this time I really want to take it slow. I did my rockwork like I want it just a few minutes ago, been working on it all morning. Also put some frags in their permanent place. I still have a bunch of frags left to put in their permanent home. The whole time doing it all my cleaner shrimp wanted to clean my hands and arms. Lol. Ya tank will be good when ya get home, I'm sure your parents are taking care of it. ;-)

    Hey Dread,

How ya been? You haven't poste much in a while. How ya tank done? Did ya get that big frag pack? Shoot, I wanna see some pics of ya tank. Did ya install the controller? Post that article on it! But really I would love to see some pics of the progress of ya tank!

Yes, that should suffice for some of the easier SPS corals. Pocillopora for example.

Two 30" T5 bulbs over a 29g? No, I doubt that is too much light. What color bulbs? The 29g has 12" depth (front to back) so you may have room for another bulb or two. hehe

Be sure they are about 7" off the water to avoid heating the water and reduce UV radiation to the corals near the top of the tank.

Papua New Guinea fish --- a look to the future

by dread240 on 02-26-2011 at 07:50 PM
With the situations currently ongoing in Papua New Guinea, we've seen no livestock making it's way state side or out of the country for that matter. However there will be availability through some sources eventually, from who and where has yet to be determined, but the country is looking into the prospects and wants to see it happen.

So what's this post for then? I've been researching some of the absolutely amazing sea life coming from this area. I've really seen no other place with

Stocking help for the 75g

by dread240 on 02-15-2011 at 08:54 PM
The QT tank should finally be cycled this week hopefully... and I'm trying to decide what I'm doing as far as fish this time around.

The tank will not be screened, but I do have a canopy going around it with fans shielded from the inside/out and mesh across the back, so I'm thinking I should be ok with some jump happy type critters like my old mandarin that decided to go hardwood floor surfing from the 29g. There's about a 3/4" gap from the top of the canopy to the light fixture,

MarineLand Stealth Heaters finally recalled

by dread240 on 02-12-2011 at 05:03 PM
According to e-mails sent out from pet smart, Marineland has finally recalled their lineup of stealth heaters. I've seen quite a few of these literally explode and blow tanks out, so I'm glad they're finally doing something with it.

Dear Valued PetSmart Pet Parent,

Marineland has issued a voluntary withdrawal of the Stealth PRO Submersible Heater (100, 200 and 250 watt). The product is being withdrawn due to a quality issue.

If you have this product, please

75g February update with a crappy camera

by dread240 on 02-07-2011 at 08:38 PM
Well, the fishless reef is actually doing very good as far as inverts and corals go. I've finally had some decent success with sps corals, letting them encrust down onto the rocks plugless for a more natural look. I can't wait to get some fish back in this tank in a month or two, but I'm definitely not rushing anything in after losing everything during the transition to ich. If I had kept it sterile all along, it wouldn't have even been there to infect my fish and they probably would have made it...

I definitely just missed the coolest video :(

by dread240 on 02-03-2011 at 09:29 PM
So I've found something interesting over the past week and a half or so. Tonight was probably the coolest part of it all, and low and behold the camera on my 'refurbished replacement evo 4g' they just bestowed upon me the other week after they broke mine replacing the LCD is completely non functional kept me from recording it.

My tank is fishless right now. During the transition, I had an ich outbreak and couldn't get the QT up and going fast enough to save them. All my corals and
