New LED company

by BackReefer on 08-27-2011 at 03:16 PM
Hello group, its been much too long since my last post but I think I found something good. My fishy adventures has me employed at a aqua-hydroponic store as one of their aquatic service techs. Long story short, I tagged along to a local LED manufacturer, Sunshine Systems. They have been doing LEDs for indoor gardening. They now have a reef capable 90w, 6500K white, 430-490nm blue. They can be daisy chained together, comes with a hanging kit, and weighs 6 lbs. They are really new and I was lucky

I am looking for a chestnut morey and it is a very hard fish to find. Some stores have viper morey eels but the chestnut stays smaller. Any info is helpful. Thanks

long time no post, my 40 brd update

by BackReefer on 06-28-2011 at 09:24 PM
Hello all, its been 3 months since my last post, lol. An update of my tank is that I traded the "pool filter" fluval FX5 for a CPR Aquatics HOB Refugium w/ PS. It is the largest one, 28 in. I have 6700K fuge light, MJ1200 pump, air pump into a hydor bubble diffuser for the skimmer. 1.5 inches of sand, LR rubble and cheado. My yashia goby is in there now but I was thinking of putting cleaner shrimp in to reproduce to feed the tank. Will this drastically effect my copepod population?

FX5 update, sun polyp linkia

by BackReefer on 03-30-2011 at 02:09 AM
Alright, FX5 is beasting, I hate canisters for the common fact you can't SEE what's going on, my old MAG 350s on FOs at least you could gauge flow and "crap." SKIMMERS at least get the waste out, not trapped in the system. I WANT A SUMP/ REFUGIUM. Checking out CPR hangon. Sorry, to drift off, topic at hand is, my red linkia star is eating my Sun polyps. Fed the Suns last night, saw the star on top of the colony today. Moved the star and have sucked out, white out polyps. Anybody's info

FX5 canister filter

by BackReefer on 03-24-2011 at 09:06 PM
I know everybody here preaches dumps and wet dry filters, but I just got a Fluval FX5 canister filter rated for400 gallons, 950 gph. I'm putting it on my 40 breeder with 2 remora skimmers. Anybody with advice on what media I should use would be helpful. Thanks
