All Sorts of Dosing Questions

by gettareef on 02-15-2015 at 06:31 PM
Marc and any of you that can help,

I have been dosing for about a year now using 2part, and dosing alk and cal unevenly. I seem to be dosing much more alk...I dose about 2.5oz of alk daily, and maybe dose calcium once per week if even that. It seems my alk drops daily where calcium drops at a much slower rate. Would you suggest I begin dosing in equal volumes of alk and cal daily? Would I then dose 2.5oz alk and 2.5 cal? I didn't dose in equal amounts as I believed this would increase

Setting Up AquaMaxx Biopellet reactor on my 75 and have SEVERAL Questions

by gettareef on 01-04-2014 at 01:48 PM
Hello everybody!,

So this Christmas I decided to treat my reef with a needed piece of equipment: the AquaMaxx Biopellet Reactor. I got the XL reactor as it was only an extra $40 or so and for when I upgrade to a larger system in the future. I went with the AquaMaxx brand mainly due to Melev's advice/review and bc I was impressed with AquaMaxx's quality, price, and customer service. For pellets I went with Ecobak, for no reason in particular, getting the 1000ml package.

Well, here is a short update of my 75. The reef is reaching the 1 ½ year mark and I am happy to report it is feeling just fabulous, and as healthy as a horse! I did get a bit lazy near the birth of my daughter and slacked on water changes. The tank and I suffered a heartbreaking loss; a small Acro frag decided to take the plunge into the big blue yonder by bleaching out. BUT after grieving we got back to work and have stuck to 10% water changes weekly, no excuses. For a while now I have made

Help Identifying Some of the Life in the Refugium of my 75 Gallon

by gettareef on 04-15-2013 at 12:12 AM
Hello All! ,
I have a few things I would like help identifying in my aquarium. They are mainly found in my refugium.

So I captured these videos the other day. The first one is from my refugium which contains live rock, chaeto, and 1” miracle mud as substrate. It is filled with life, and some type of snail and possibly mysis shrimp(?) breeding has been happening. The first video is a close-up of one of the rocks in the refugium. If you look closely you can see little white
