Mag Drive Plumbing Question?

by Mockery on 12-15-2010 at 12:02 AM
Is it true that you should double the size of the pipe when using a mag drive pumps? For example my mag 9.5 is threaded for 3/4in should I use 1.5in? Really confused right now.

Thanks,
Colin

Sprinkler Solenoid Valve?

by Mockery on 11-12-2010 at 06:36 PM
So I need an electronic solenoid valves for a tank project and wondering if a sprinkler valve would work in its place, cause a true PVC solenoid is like $200 and a sprinkler is around $20.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but for the valve to be "aquarium safe" it:
  • Can't have any water come in contact to metal
  • Would type of plastic play a role?
Anything I could be missing?
Here is a link to the valve I'm thinking about using.

Marc if this is not cool feel free to delete it.

I'm in need of some results in a survey for a school project. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5YPSMMR

My In-Wall Addiction

by Mockery on 03-01-2010 at 06:07 PM
Well I took some good pictures over the weekend and thought I would post them for everyone to see.

A little about my set up; it is a custom built tank by a local store, here in GA. The display it self is 30"x22"x20" wide so about 57 gallons. The sump is a 40 breeder that I added baffles too. Skimmer is an 110 Octo recirc. (Which I'm looking to change/upgrade to something rated for over 200 gallon.) I run an MRC dual chamber nano calcium reactor and BRS carbon reactor.
