Sea Side Aquatics CS-1 skimmer

Rate this Entry
For the past 3-4 months ive been wanting, saving and researching to upgrade my skimmer. my tank is a 70g(85-90 total system) medium load. i wanted the biggest skimmer i could place in my sump and maybe still use if i upgrade. I first settled on octopus extreme 1000-sss, i tried to order it twice but everytime out of stock. So i got in touch with Mr. Tran of Socal Tropical Fish Outlet, after couple calls and emails he narrowed me down to bubble magus nac-7 and the cs-1. they are the same body with the cs-1 having diff cup. the big diff is the pumps, nac-7 has atman 2500, cs-1 sicce syncra psk-600. I all ready own 3 sicce syncra pumps(return, reactors) and have been very happy with there performance(low wattage, less heat, reliable). So i pulled the trigger on the CS-1.

price: $299.99(less S/H)
Needle wheel protein skimmer
Reactor room: Cone
Pump: Sicce Syncra PSK-600
Pump power: 110V, 60Hz
Capability: 150G Water
Product size: 9.5” * 8” * 20”

Sicce psk-600

the base is also nice, pump sits on a foam bad to damper noise and also has rubber feet on corners. as you can see the whole pump and diffuser come apart for cleaning.

pump assembled to base

The whole skimmer disassembles for easy cleaning

Fully assembled. water level adjustment is with a twist/wedge style pipe. it is marked with a dial indicator 1-5 to show how much it is open.

heres a video of it re-starting it after 4 hours of use, mic on cam is very sensitive but its very quite in person. also 1-2 degree drop in temp on my system.

Nice recap of your new skimmer. I like how it takes up very little room. What's the total footprint? What's it rated for? How long's the warranty? And what does it cost?

How long have you been running the sicce pumps after read reviews on the web and forums ive been scared of purchasing anything running them

@dj --- make sure the reviews you read are on the current models which is psk-600 and psk-1000 the old ones had issues with start ups. the current ones are the syncra model modded for a skimmer. all my syncra pumpss have run flawless for 2 years on return sicce3 and 1 year on reactors sicce 1,1.5
