Big sump shipping out

Rate this Entry
Micheal has been waiting for his new sump to ship out far longer than anticipated. Here's some pictures of what he's going to be receiving shortly.

The sump is a beast... it goes under his beautiful new Marineland tank. Included is a large ATO Reservoir that holds 26g of RO/DI water to replenish evaporation.

The sump is 56" x 30" x 16", made with 3/8" cast acrylic. It can hold up to 107g to the top rim.

He wanted a large bubble tower to drain into, and the option to use a 7" filter sock on occasion. The large section houses the protein skimmer. His tank has four drains, so three will dump into the skimmer section, and one into the refugium zone.

The return zone will hold reactors, and allow him to connect twin external pumps for return and a manifold system to feed multiple pieces of gear.

The bulkheads are 1.5" threaded/slip internally. The inside section is threaded to receive a strainer, and the outer section is slip to glue in PVC / Spaflex plumbing.

The full-length refugium zone will flow into the return zone via this section of black eggcrate.

The ATO Reservoir is 12" wide, 18" deep and 32" tall with an access door. It is made with 3/8" cast acrylic as well.

It had to be carefully packed for freight shipping.

Looking forward to seeing it in use. As is Midnight!

I have a 300 g tank, it will be running two reeflo darts reef dynamics skimmer, nextreef reactors, calcium reactor, and carbon. The acrylic hinges look awesome, I didn't realize they were produced.

Oh, by the way are you gonna need that tarp back Marc?

No, that's all yours. I used it to protect the 400g during our storms, but for you it's just additional padding. You can use the tiedown straps for future stuff as well. I'll send you an email with tracking number - it will be in your area on Wednesday or Thursday.

    It's 385 lbs of filtration.

I just picked up the sump from Fedex. The pictures do not do it justice, THIS SUMP IS A MONSTER! Marc really out did himself on this build. I am really glad I had him do it over myself.

I'm glad it got there in good condition. Sorry it took so long to get built, Midnight.
