I like the new desktop look, and you'll be able to add webcams now as well. I need to flip that switch myself, as I've not changed out the firmware yet.

Can I see a photo of this fancy DIY scraper please?

The Garage side has very few corals showing at this time. I see it daily though, when I empty the skimmer cup. We have not gotten around to the full game room conversion so that is why you can see some stuff hanging if you look closely through the glass. This is also why I have not put may corals on that side.

Your tank is looking nice. How often do you view it from the garage side?

In my reef, I don't spot feed LPS at all, but in the frag tank I do. To feed those corals in my reef, it would have to be after lights out with the pumps off to keep the fish from stealing it, since those corals are slow feeders.

If you want a better algae scraper than what you made, use white acrylic. It's a great way to see what you missed as you scrape because the white background in your hand shows them clearly.

I guess I had February on the brain when I was typing, glad you caught that. My SPS get to eat particulates and fish poop which seem to make them happy. I feed heavily too, just not usually late enough for the feeders to be out on the LPS corals.

Thats a pretty nice looking tank! I have a super soft spot for Hepatus tangs. No matter how common, they are just one of those fish! As for my LPS, I maybe directly feed them once a month, but I make up for that by feeding the crap out of my tank on a regular basis (two cubes of P.E. Mysis, some Reef Nutrition ROE and Oyster Feast and Coral Smoothie once a day on a 75).

Tanks looking good. Is it February already lol.
cant help much on the feeding of Lps coral, as I I only have 1 anchor hammer. I target feed him 1-2 times a week.
What do you feed your sps corals?

Yeah cannon makes three main macro lenses: 50mm, 60mm, and the 100mm. the 50 mm macro image differs greatly from the regular 55 mm.

Taking pictures with the 55-135mm, the one you saw at macna, is actually tough to take tank pictures with. I did find that taking pictures from the top does solve a lot of DOF(depth of field) issues though

    A 50mm isn't a macro lens (usually). I have a 105mm AF/S Macro lens, but I don't use it all that often.

The tank has been up since July 13, so 4 and 1/2 months. The parameters are all staying in check. I need to exchange my CO2 cylinder so I can get my CAL reactor online. And I am waiting to order the plumbing to finish the manifold til January or February.

The lens worked ok. However, when I purchase one it will be the 100mm with IS. Shooting top down, with the 50 mm, did not produce the magnification I was expecting.

You did really well, it looks like you got use to it quite fast in fact. Thanks for sharing. How's your tank doing overall? It's been up for about four months now?

Awesome pictures. So good to seem them growing and spreading after the move. I'm going to have to add a top down box to my wish list now.

Thanks for sharing your pictures. I've not really been inclined to take pictures of my reef from above due to the massive centerbrace blocking 1/3 of the tank. Regarding your corals, the one you called Meteor Shower (Cyphastrea) is in fact a Favia (called War Coral usually) and I like the new puddle down below taking hold.

The one that you nearly lost is going to be gorgeous. Not positive what it is yet, but it reminds me of some treasure. Maybe A loripes? And the other one you nearly lost looks like a great piece of coral DNA as well.

Love the new clam! I got one too, as you know. It's living in my frag tank for the time being.

One day it just popped up, near as I can tell or know, a polyp dropped off and started growing. As you can tell it has like 4 polyps now.
