The centerbrace makes it really hard to clean off, I completely agree. I'm dealing with that myself with the temporary 215g.

If you scrape off corallline, the little bits will take root elsewhere, like on the rockwork. Your view isn't spoiled and the corals stand out better visually.

Coralline on acrylic leaves hazy patches if you leave it there too long.

Is it not good for coraline aglae to grow on the glass? Tank looks nice. What is the down side to having it on the glass?

lol I work and go to school fill time, and it's hunting season, so tank looks pretty considering. that's a duncan. that back glass is hard to get to with a 2 foot deep tank and a 18 inch wide center brace

It's looking great! But, Marc will tell you that you need to clean the coraline off the back and scrape the front glass at the sandbed lol. What is the thick fuzzy coral in the bottom center left?

ill take out the DSLR tonight and get a nice FTS, and yes it is very frankenstein but i really like how it worked out.

@Michika.. i started out with about a 4 tbs the first week and have since added 2-3 a week. im very slowly tweaking amount as this is new to me. i go through 10 gallons of top every 4-5 days or so. forgot to mention the stir pump kicks on 6 times a day via my reefkeeper. also is ph goes above 8.3 i have an alarm that shuts off that ATO pump. working on a way to add a second pump to bypass when that happens and pump fresh water till ph drops, i know it can be done with reefkeeper just need another pump

How much kalk powder are you going through?

Chris, that quite the Frankenstein idea you went with, but boy did it work. I can't believe your pH was as low as you typed. How did anything survive? Can we see a full tank shot of the reef?

if you look closely there is a zip tie one on each side. these pumps have very lil vibration and low noise. I like them a lot for this big of a reactor and system. yes it's ghetto but I trust my acrylic guys work and there where very lil options. I am gettin the itch to rip it all out and clean the sump and rat nest of wires. really bugging me!

That is cool, I guess Marc is gonna have to sell pumps separate now for Kalk systems. Is that pump held in position by anything?

so wiring was simple for the new mh ballast, just cut and spliced in a standard male and female 3 prong connections. ended up with a nice Galaxy dual 250w ballast and i love it the bulb color is so much better with the phoenix 14k. now im waiting on the new t5 ballast.

PAR readings where good with new ballast besides how quiet they are. directly under at water surface is at 1100 which is about 8-10 inches. mid tank is 200 on the ends and 350 in center mid level, sand bed is at 150. so im happy with that

This is why it's tough to make good purchasing decisions in this hobby, because you never know what you might not know about what you needed to know.

C'est la vie. It never really ends in this hobby. You should know that by now.

thanks!! only thing that frustrates me is the 10k lights, its so yellow. But i am getting good growth and the 4 bulb t5 helps keep color in coral so ill use them another 3-4 months the swap in my phoenix 14k bulbs. ive had all the big colonies for 2-3 years and they have been cut in half a couple time when i had them in my 70g to make room, no more trimming in this tank. any question let me know
