Thanks for the info. In the picture I don't have my top off system back up and running yet after switching over from my 55 gallon tank so the water level shifts a bit right now. will be putting my top off system back together some time tonight. After looking into skimmers on line I do like the octo and think that's the way I am going to go just need to save up a little $ as I spent most of my dough on the new tank.
Agreed, it is important that you skimmer section have a constant water level for it to work good. It will need to have some kind of baffle system to keep it at a certain level. For the xp2000 the water level is 5 1/2-6 1/2". Mine sits in 6". Thing make some dark naaasty stinky nog.
looks like from the picture that your skimmer is in a sump section that does not have a constant water level. If this is true than this is going to sorely effect the way the skimmer can work. Yes, I agree the octo is a good skimmer for your setup, but you will still need to have it in a set amount of water height. which I believe for most octos is around 8 or 9 inches.
If it were me I would go with the Octo. xp2000 and never look back. I'm running one on my 140 with a 75 sump and it kicks butt. Might be a bit much for your 75 but if you intend to ever upgrade to a larger tank that will be one pc. of equipment you won't have to worry about buying. That's my .02
