  1. DIY light fixture is shocking

    the title basically says it all, I’ve only just discovered it today when i touched my fixtures heat sink and U-channel aluminum with wet hands...it wasn’t a strong shock but none the less this should not be happening

    There are two posible sources of this stray voltage
    1. Where the wires from the drivers go through the sharp edge of the heat sink and in to my fixture its possible it cut the insulation.

  2. slight disaster yesterday

    First off sorry there are no pics, but i was a little busy freaking out

    Yesterday morning I came down the stairs put on pot of coffee and went to see the tank, on my way there I smelt burnt, as I approached I realized the tank and no power and there was a puddle around my stand!!

    I quickly grabbed towels to dry the laminate floor and shut off the power, I checked the temp of the tank it read 74.3. once I dried up the floor around the tank I had to dry the floor under the ...

  3. its about that time of year...preparing for power outages

    as the weather starts to get colder and the leafs begin to fall im beginning to dread winter, here most of the power lines are underground but we still get our fair share of power outages lasting a couple hours on average, this year I’m considering buying a UPS to protect my investment, im just wondering if anyone uses one? i was looking at TigerDirect and they have tones, at all different ratings and prices...sort of overwhelming
  4. DIY LED fixture of fun (SOL rip off) part 4

    Allot has been done since my last update and I’m happy to say the light is working! And hanging!

    I made my black acrylic housings what allow for a piece of glass to slide in, this will protect from spray and splashing.

    I used U channel aluminum to attach the 2 units together and hung it with my existing hanging kit from my old fixture.
