Why would I remove something that's not causing problems? I enjoy having them in my tank

I may quicken it up a bit since the corals seem to be responding really well. I may feed more silverside pieces to the maxi-mini as a temporary measure.

I forgot to take photos of my mini anemones, but one of them split while in the new take, so I take that as a good sign.

Thanks, there's still bits of sand and detritus that hitchhiked over from the old tank that I'm trying to clean up, but I'm liking the "Corals in Space" look.

Don't worry, I'm not scared at all. I've been keeping a close eye on the mini asterina stars and the zoas for over a year I'm confident that they're not the source of the problem. They've been doing much better since they moved into my new tank two weeks ago, despite plenty of asterina stars roaming around.

Zoanthids. They were one of my first corals, and had been shrinking and eventually started closing up over the past year. Since moving them to the new tank they've been doing a lot better, opening up most of the time again and color has improved too. I hope they'll start growing soon.

I just discovered Pacific East Aquaculture, which does sell Pacific invertebrates...well Sea of Cortez is close enough. No mini brittle stars, but I'm gonna check out their Ceriths as soon as they have them in stock again.

Are you talking about mini brittle stars?

I neglected to mention that I have a 15g nano tank, so something like a sea cucumber or a sand sifting star would be like unleashing Godzilla onto city. The Aquafuge refugium is even smaller, about 13" x 4" x 12", so let's stick to small invertebrates. The Indo-Pacific them is kind of irrelevant if they are going into the 'fuge.

My understanding of nassarius snails is that they go after carrion and uneaten food, and they don't go after detritus much if at all. My Super Tongan Nassarius seems most active when I drop pellets into the water. I've ordered from IPSF before and I like them but the cost is currently outside my budget for the near term. Maybe again in the future.

Is there a mini brittle star species that consumes detritus? I have loads of mini brittle stars but they don't seem to do anything to the detritus, at least not significantly. I only see them stick out their legs at night as if they're filter feeding.

The sand sifting star makes my sand very clean. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...572&pcatid=572

The following species are also mentioned as names in current use by the Indo-Pacific Molluscan Database [14]

mini brittle star, maybe sand sifting star, cucumbers, would definitely throw in a few Nassarius snails

Congrats on your new corals and that new QT tank! I'm curious to see what bulb combination you end up liking.

That is a couple of awesome new additions. I do the same thing as far as waking up early to check on the tank. My main goal is to wake up and take a head count so I can make sure everything is still kicking and nothing has been knocked over that needs to be reset up after my starfish, urchin or cucumber goes on a godzilla rampage.

I'm going to try to get them out of my tank in a week or two (once my lye gets in). I'm going to cut them back and give away frags (a lot of people still love them) then lye the small pieces that I can't scrape off the rock. Wish me luck!

Those zoas are great though! I'm trying to get a pink zoa or paly into my tank... just to add another color. I may find the patience to wait for a pink goniopora though... love those things. :-)
I've been told that they can be prolific, but I've had it for three months now and no sign of splitting. It could still be adjusting to the tank and not "felt" like spreading, but I've been keeping an eye on it.

Thanks about the zoas. I still want more but I want to mix in both awesome-looking ones and some "drab" ones for balance.

How are gonioporas now a days? I've read that strives have been made but they are still challenging.
