    Looks great,

I'm not sure if it would bother me a whole lot. But I think it would bother my wife and then she would bother me.

If I end up getting this fixture I could always build a slightly bigger canopy.

There's two sides to that story. The bottom line is allowing that light to flood into the livingroom doesn't bother me one bit. However, the peanut gallery that seems my images often bemoan a lack of woodwork or complain the lightrack is a distraction. I like the industrial look and it allows me to explain how everything works when people stop by.

I do have a couple of sheets of black corrugated sign material that I can affix to the front and back to contain the lights, which I use occasionally - especially when I want to take full tank pictures and don't want to wash out the images with light bleed.

Here's a picture of the tank without any light shields:

Wish my tank looked that good!

Do you run your MH/T5 in a hood? If not do you get alot of light spilling over the sides?

I am considering removing my canopy and installing a new t5 fixture but I'm afraid it may drive me crazy being in my living room if theres a ton of light spillage.

I posted a blog entry about this.

I wish I could, but I need sleep for work! I would rather stop working until I get it done but I don't think my boss would be too happy.

Stop sleeping until you've got it done.

I wish I could have made it, but would have just made me sad since my tank isn't ready yet. I have everything I need, just have to find the time to finish putting it all together! So much stuff to do and the girlfriend never wants to give me time to do it. I need to find a way to get her involved in this big project... I am open to ideas!

    Fixed! Thanks for catching that.

I think you may have left off a picture there at the end Marc

But as always your tank leaves the rest of us drooling

That was one concern I had that people were trying to get to my website and during the transition they'd find it unavailable. I knew it was only temporary, but still...

No, I simply announced you could visit melevsreef.biz for the time being, but the majority of people were still going to .com even with a link in huge letters at the top of the shop section. They just never saw it for whatever reason.

I agree, Michael. It's long overdue.

What a coincidence that you should post this now. One of my friends just started his first reef tank this week and he called me asking for advice. I told him some little tips and answers to questions that I had to search for but after that I said "the best thing you can do is research everything you want to do, go to melevsreef.com. He is the best in the business and that is the website I used to get myself started."

On a different note did you try rolling this out a while back? I feel like I saw it this way briefly a while back

Regardless the new site is beautiful and that moni cap in your frag tank really IS orange!

The big montipora in the frag tank is orange, but I know the color was a little skewed in that shot. The LED fixture over the frag tank is Evolution, by Reef Koi. I think it is Gen2, it's over three years old.

brotherd - are you talking about the last image in this blog entry, or the image reflecting on the frag tank?

Whatever that LED light is, it's over the frag tank.
It resembles some kind of Eco-Ray fixture but that would make for way too much PAR under most circumstances.

Wow! And...what is that non radion reflection over the 60?
  19. cyano's Avatar
that purple montipora looks a little bigger than a frag :P

It's done via siphon. Simpler, and takes it down to the bottom of the two zones and the bubble trap.
