  1. Current water parameters

This has been a crazy week with my water parameters taking a hit due to the tank breakdown. The Alkalinity spiked up to 15 dKH, but I turned off the calcium reactor 5 days ago. Water temperatures have risen higher than I prefer, but I've got that normalized as well. The LR (live rock) in the barrel has been circulating and skimmed, and I've been checking it for Ammonia and Nitrite, but it never cycled. The sponges never started dying off, fortunately. I've started moving some of the rock into ...

  2. iPhone users, we have a button

Did you know you can bookmark a webpage to the home screen of your iPhone? I did, but rarely used it. Now however, I had to! Jessy created a graphic just for iPhone users, so instead of it saving an ugly screenshot of the webpage, you get a cool RA logo.

Thanks goes out to Wes for telling me about the one he'd made for DFWMAS.

  3. My next tank is in the planning stages (400g)

I have a sketch drawn up, and I'll attach it now. It may vary slightly for strength as Marineland wants to have their CAD guy run his structural tests, but this is the basic plan. The display tank would be 84" x 36" x 30" - roughly 400g. Starphire glass with black silicone. The back wall where the overflow is will either be smoked glass or painted black, or I'll use window tint.

  4. Dreaming a dream...

With the tank close to empty (still have to get out all of the sand and the last of the water, including in the overflows), I'm thinking about what to do next.

Wes is pushing for a huge upgrade. LOL It's always easier to get someone else to upgrade, after all. A bigger tank could be nice, but I know what the workload was for the 280g and have no reason to think it would be a minor adjustment for a bigger one. The truth of the matter is, larger tanks cost more every time. I may ...
  5. The 280g reef is leaking

The top left corner of my tank is leaking. Ugh. I'm going to have to figure out what I can do about it today. The carpet is wet in the entry way.

    Update 7:57 pm 7/03/10:

Here are the pictures I took this afternoon. I didn't take a picture of wet carpet because you know what that looks and smells like. I removed the wooden column on the left side of my tank as soon as I saw how it was soaked with saltwater. I also checked tank salinity, and it has dropped to ...
