  1. LFS: AquaSD in San Diego, CA

During my trip to sunny California last week, my first stop was AquaSD. I've followed their online postings for a while, but had never gotten inside the store. Until now.

  2. Just two more weeks...

That famous line from the appropriately named "The Money Pit" movie comes to mind.

But after MACNA, I'll be getting my 400g back into the house at last. Here are some pictures from the water test that I received today.

For about a year, I've wanted a waste collector for the protein skimmer. You may recall a blog where I was testing a float valve in the skimmer's collection cup to disable one pump and stop it from overflowing. It was one of those projects that got tabled as more important things came up, but each time I had to wipe down everything to erase the mess, I'd remember why I wanted to do this conversion.

At the DFWMAS Frag Swap yesterday, I stumbled upon a brand new waste collector for ...

  4. The 400g Has Arrived

Friday September 6 2013 at 10:00 a.m., I was ready and waiting by the door for a big truck bearing my 400g replacement reef aquarium. The tank was due to arrive within moments along with 10 guys hired to bring it inside and onto the stand, courtesy of Marineland. I took the front door off the hinges, removed the hardware that pulls the storm door shut, and moved the framed photographs off the wall that the tank would pass beneath.

  5. Power outage project update

In my neighborhood, power goes out from time to time. It may be a few minutes, or an hour. About two or three times a year, it will go out for a longer period of time, which is precisely why I own a generator. I've written about how it is used, as well as good maintenance tips for long term use. Here's the full write up: http://www.reefaddicts.com/content.p...tect-your-reef
