  1. Tigertail Cucumber

This morning when I arose, I saw one of the Tigertail Cucumbers on the front glass of my tank, in the upper right corner. This isn't the first time, but I thought it was worth taking a few pictures.

It was holding onto the glass, but reached over and rested on the Toadstool Leather.

  2. Back from Baltimore, Maryland

Over the weekend, I flew out to speak to the Chesapeake Marine Aquaria Society, www.cmas-md.org . It was a lively group, and gave me the perfect opportunity to try out my new camera gear in earnest. I almost feel like a newbie as I try to grasp what the D90 can do, especially with the new lenses.

  3. Leptastrea - an interesting coral

I got this coral in the past, and thought it was pretty neat. It's in the favia family, somewhat like the "war" coral people want. However, this one is far more shaggy. Check out the polyps on this one, which I got a few months ago.

  4. Playing with my new camera (Nikon D90)

While I was at MAX last weekend, I picked up a new camera. It's a Nikon D90 with a very nice Nikon 105mm Macro lens.

These were freehand shots, some taken from across the room and some standing in front of the tank. I just wanted to get a feel for the camera, which is quite the upgrade from my D70s.

First of all, here's my newest pet.

    And now for the reef.

  5. Electricity usage in Texas

It's that time of year again when many of us are going to be powering up our A/C systems to keep our homes and tanks cool. With that usually comes higher bills, so if you've not done anything about energy savings, now's the time.

Go to PowerToChoose.org and type in your zipcode. You can go through all the energy providers and find a good deal. For me, I prefer 12 months fixed, and limited the list to show just that. I've been with StarTex for the past 12 months, and was ...
