yeah marc, i know but i'm trying to put a bunch of good information together with respect to building a good fish room, i notice you have never really touched on this subject in any of your articles. Perhaps that myight be a good blog . Explain the importance of good materials like the sheetrock that you have used in your fishroom.

What do you mean, Padrino? What type of sheetrock? I'm using the green version inside my fishroom, which is designed for moist environments (like bathrooms).

That number is not going to be pretty. A hobby well worth the investment but not pretty.

There are certain things you can ascertain, like what it costs in electricity or in water each month. I did some figuring in the past.

I also did some math on what water costs me, and how much is used annually. I did a search but can't find my entry on that topic. As far as I can remember, I'm using about 12,000g per year including waste water, and I'm pretty sure it was costing me less than .02 per(pure) gallon. If I had to buy filters retail and factor in the water bill from the city, it would be .06 per pure RO/DI gallon of water.

I feel your pain, Not to mention regular replacement items like MH lights UV bulbs Quattz sleeves that break when you replace the UV bulb.

I would venture to say that to be a responsible reef keeper that one should plan for about 1.00 per gallon per month for things like electric, water, food, and other reef keeping essentials.

I have a spare seal on hand just in case. Even though Sequence offers to send them for free, I chose to pay $20 to have them here for when I need them. I don't want to have to wait on parts.

The only bad thing about the Dart pumps are the seals will go out at some point. They will either develop a slow leak or get noisy. I have three of them, one online and two backups.

You did get your moneys worth out of this pump - and having a replacement sitting on the bench waiting to be put in the game speaks to your planning. One of the many reasons your tank is such a good example to all
