It had a few moments this evening to shoot some of the reef.

  2. If you love your skimmer, here's what you do.

Chardo TheBull decided that he really loves his new skimmer, and quickly developed a close bond with it. Over the past 24 hours, they've been inseparable. And he's got the selfies to prove it. Most of us just take a few pictures of our newest acquisition and share them online but Chardo... see for yourself.

  3. My daily view

Every day, the first thing I see is my reef and it keeps my company all day long. I check on a few things once the coffee is brewing. One comment I hear from a lot of visitors is that the glass is so clean. It's true, I prefer to keep my view unobscured and will make sure to swipe it often with the cleaning magnet. When stubborn spots appear, a plastic credit card is used to scrape those away.

I do have to give some credit to the glass itself. Starphire has a much prettier look ...

  4. It won't stop growing.

I've been watching the staghorn coral grow upwards for the past few months. When the tip hit the surface, I figured it would stop. But when I looked more closely at the tip, there are about 8 corallites poking up even though they have nowhere to go. It's kind of funny.

Here's a better picture of it. I left the pumps on so you can see it with the water level at the normal height.

  5. Apex settings I want / need, and what I'm going to do soon.

    Power failure:
When the power goes out and I'm out of town, I get an email & a text to let me know. What I don't get is a follow up to let me know power has been restored. If the power goes out at 2 a.m. I have to ask myself if I should call my tank sitter to head over to my place to care for the situation.... or should I hope it all took care of itself? I've got some code in my system but it doesn't do what I'd hoped. Terence gave me a suggestion using a low voltage wallwort plug and a ...
