Yes, that one may be the changeling. I have a male that isn't a fan of the newer male.

Marc, great pictures! Is that top male Lyretail a change over from a female in your tank. I had one change on me as well.

Yes, I have a couple of mangroves in the refugium that have grown higher than the light. Again. I'd like to do something different with these one day.

I'm guessing I'll get it by the end of the month, but I've not gotten a tracking number yet.

That's awesome! And gave me a great idea for a waterproof case for my Drift. Maybe I can capure some footage of the salmon in the local rivers next year.

I already broke even a few months ago.
That cost was only the patent, the lawyers, injection mold and initial manufacturing costs came to almost another $20,000.00
  11. melev's Avatar
Wow, I hope you sell a ton of them to recoup that investment.

Exactly. My power bill was $500 - $600 per month with my very electrically efficient system, using 3 x 1000W 20K lamps over an 8' x 5' x 35" tank. And I built my system with low electrical consumption as a key component. At the time, it would have been $100K to light it with LEDs.

The electricity bill is where you save. If you opted to use 250w MH, which most would prefer 400w over a tank this size, six bulbs would use 1500w every hour. Eight bulbs would use 2000w per hour. 10,500w to 14,000w per day.

These would use 750w total. 5250w per day. Multiple these numbers against your KwH times 30 days to measure the monthly electricity consumption.

Wow that is over 4000 in light for that tank, that is why LED's are not catching on for large tanks. I wonder how long it would take to recoup the difference in cost of a halide system?

Well in sunny FLA it's HOT! 96 degree day and HUMID as ever! I'm a Fla girl and when I read 48 degrees it sends shivers down my spine Brr!!. My blood is way too thin to live in a cold climate. Don't get me wrong the heat is miserable but I wouldn't change where I live I'm too chicken for the cold :/
