    RE: Mermaid tank
Looks like they are ready for Elvis to return!

Both of the Atlanta stores are WAY above anything I've seen in the SF bay area. Prices don't seem bad. The only one I could read was on tenth pic, 3" clam for $19.75. Or was that $1,975.

I am in the process of setting up a QT tank. I think I have dodged enough bullets and my time is soon approaching. Can you explain your QT? Is it up all the time? Filtration? I am thinking of setting one up only when I get a fish, keep a filter in my sump to soak up some bacteria and then when needed fire up the QT.

I am currently cycling some Marco Rock in a tote, been there for about 4 months and when I do a W/C on it I notice how yellow the water looks, very similar to that water. I think its from not running any carbon on it.

Actually no, now that I think about it! I cut open the bags, poured them into the net and put them in the QT. We'll have to see how they do. You got me curious because I never did test the salinity of the yellow water, but at the time I just felt I needed to get them out of that "pee" water. lol I just tested it and it was 1.015sg, and I dumped them into 1.025sg!

Gerbilbox, a few months ago, I lacked green and wished I had more. Now I seem to only have it as all the colorful SPS are pretty much gone. Hopefully things are back on track again now and I can start acquiring some new pieces to put in my reef.

    Love the maze coral.

I have to agree, the maze coral looks gorgeous.

I think I have too much green in my tank, so are you implying that my attempt to diversify its color will fail?

I swear the only color harder to kill then green is brown I swear I have a forest of Kenya Tree corals growing in the septic tank that I used to flush weekly, lol

maze coral is a beautiful specimen. I had trouble keeping torch corals in my system. They seem to do quite well for a short time, maybe a few months, and then melt-down.

Everything, except my green hair algae ! I hate that stuff.

I agree 100% anything green in my tank does at least 10x better than anything else

so how does it affect good bacteria? is there any boomerang effect? I have seen your posts about this for years, and never seen any negative issue associated with Chemi-Clean, but I am very curious how it kills off one bacteria bloom and not them all. Any thoughts on that?

Right. That's a starfish I won't keep for that very reason.

I'm not sure at the moment. Though the angels are known to cause turmoil, so the question is if my feedings will break them of their habits and allow my reef to grow in. I have another stuff happening that I can't quite explain. We'll see.

Sorry to hear that Marc. I would have thought that volume of water would be reasonably stable. You think it is the water, or maybe one of those angels picking at things?

Sorry, looked on wetwebmedia to refresh my memory and I was thinking of the Green Brittle Star.

You'd think, right Blake? But my cherished SPS look like hell for the most part. I just finished mixing up 250g of saltwater, and I'm trying to decide how big a water change I want to do.
