I won't run the numbers on energy savings vs cost, but I imagine at $1500 it would take quite a while to recoup the investment vs MH or T5. My current T5 fixture plus lamps ran ~$500 so...

I would like to see one too though.

I'm not going to judge this until I see the fixture itself. There is a lot to factor in when it comes to value versus savings. I did the same thing with my old versus new central HVAC for my home. This summer's blistering heat was no issue for my new A/C while my old one would never have kept up. I kept my house between 72 and 75F daily, even when we were smoldering 110F across the city.

It works as advertised. I have the whites plugged into a timer, and the blues I turn on and off as I see fit each day. I may add them to the timer with future trips in my future. My corals look great under it, from SPS to LPS and well as the occasional softy / ricordea. 14,000K is a very nice color combo.

When are LEDs going to come down in price?! I'd need two for my 75, so $1500. Ouch.

Still to expensive for my taste.

I love that show. Those tanks are amazing. Everytime I see a huge tank like the ones they build it makes me want to turn my 10 foot long 500 gallon freshwater tank into a reef.

any update on how the fixture is doing, are you liking it?

I honestly didn't think it was that big of a deal. This is how I see it all the time, from up on the walkboard. It just seemed like a good way to video it without reflections. I'm glad y'all liked it.

I'll have to check out that site when they have some images to share. Any idea when this patent goes live? Since there are other variations out there already.

When I joined, yesterday, I searched for my name because I didn't know where to start and that is the post I found.
The commercial version is at Majanowand.com. There is no picture of the latest model on there because they just came out last week. Some of it is injection molded.
after I built 100 of them I got tired of building them myself so I got a manufacturer in the US, not an easy task.
But thank you for the greeting here.
I am going to browse around and confuse people with UG filter talk
