February 27, 2010 - Addison, Texas: With perfect weather conditions, 185 hobbyists converged on the Addison Convention Center for the day to take in some helpful knowledge and take home some gorgeous corals. Every year, the Dallas Fort Worth Marine Aquarium Society puts together a full-day conference for the betterment of the hobby.

For those of you that are within driving range of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I wanted to share a little snippet. One of our speakers is Gerald Heslinga, who is flying in for our Next Wave 2011 conference on February 26. Who is Gerald? He's the owner of IPSF.com - Indo-Pacific Sea Farms.

Have y'all heard about this baby dolphin rescue in Uruguay? I had not, but here's the article with lots of beautiful pictures. The dolphin was well cared for, but simply didn't make it. His penguin mascot was sad to lose his new friend. Here's the link:

This month, our club meeting featured a visiting speaker. Steven Pro talked to us about lighting, delving into some of the more specific features that we should consider. It was interesting, such as why some bulbs are blue while others are not. He pointed out that a bulb with a lot of blue is actually a bulb without reds and yellows.
