  1. New plumbing parts

Since I ordered parts from two different companies, I didn't get everything yet. Here's what arrived yesterday.

    Black rigid PVC pipe.

All kinds of bits and baubles.

  2. Sump chatter

Everyone has been asking me about the new sump, and what its layout will be. I'm still thinking about my options, and nothing is set in stone.

I really like the idea of a tunnel for some reason. If I can pull that off, so be it.

If 1" of water drains from the display tank, that equals 13g of water. Plus whatever is in the plumbing. The sump needs to be able to hold any drainage when the power goes out.

Last night as I worked on the sheetrock of those two nefarious walls - OMG I still hate sheetrocking with a passion - I had to add two cut-off fittings to the cold and hot water pipes for the new sink. This went smoothly, after yet another trip to Home Depot because I can't read a box apparently. I bought what I was sure were correct only to get home and find I'd selected compression fittings when I needed were sweat fittings.

With those done, I could get the inner walls rocked, and ...

  5. Another customized sump

This sump was a new design I came up with. To fit the stand, its footprint had to be 60 x 24 which left space for an external Dart pump.

Here's my sketch. Note the way the water has to travel through the sump and finally exit. It has the option to run filter socks or use the bubble tower.

My customer decided to send me his Deltec skimmer to make sure it would fit. This sump was quite heavy, made ...
