Swimming Decorator crab

I just looked at the tank (behind me) and this decorator crab is swimming at the surface. No he is not dead. How cool is that?
He can do that because he decorated himself with bubble algae, which is filled with air.
I wonder if he knows thats why he is floating. I had to push him down to grab on to a rock.
I took this from the surface, down

Here he is where he is supposed to be.

  1. Bristle worm trap

I kind of like bristleworms but now I just have too many of them. Whenever I move a rock I notice it is loaded with the little slimers. I recently had a small clam up on the rocks and it fell onto the gravel. The worms sucked it out in no time so now it is war. Over the years I have made dozens of bristleworm traps and just about any design works. You can even put a piece of clam or fish into a piece of stocking and they will be stuck all over it.
This design I made in about 5 minutes ...

  3. Clownfish, Love Hate relationship

These two fireclowns can't make up their minds. For a couple of years they were spawning, then for the next few years they fought, now they are spawning again. This has been going on for at least ten years.
The larger one is about 16 or 17 years old, I am not sure how old the smaller one is. I forget. But when they are fighting, they clean nests on opposite ends of the tank and don't tolerate each other. That can last years. Now I notice it looks like they may spawn in that bottle any ...

  4. Gobi near the end of his long life

I thought I would document the life of one of my favorite fish. This gobi has been with me for I think about 12 years. When I got him he looked like the first picture. Yellow and skinny. As he grew a little I bought another one and they became inseperable. After a few months, they turned grayish brown and developed bright blue spots all over him and became almost colorful. After a few years they started to spawn and kept spawning all their life until the female died last year at about 11 years ...

  5. Feeding Stations

All fish in the sea know how to find their food and in a tank it is even easier for them. The problem is that in the sea Mother Nature supplies food all day, every day. We as humans have other lives and usually don't want to feed our fish continousely. At least I don't. Also some fish are just designed to eat a tiny bit all day because that is just the way their digestive systems were designed. Fish like pipefish and seahorses don't even have a real stomach, just a short tube that acts like ...
