Here is the final display tank all trimmed out. My daughter wanted the purple wall so we did the purple trim to match.

Thats do able you would have to have a titanium loop for the sump, solenoid valve and a unit to call for power to the to the valve which you can buy or make for pretty cheap the loop would be the most costly

Thanks for the comments! In terms of the electric bill if tried to be efficient with the use of pumps and lights. The breeding set up is only lit with either a single bulb T5 or a Marineland double bright fixture. One thing that I am going to look into in the future is possibly heating both systems with coils from a water heater but I would have to do more research on that before attempting it.

Looks good but I wouldn't want your monthly salt or electric bill

Aquaria is a good app. Test log with averaging, and fish info and compatability guides.

There is also a Apex app for android, that will show you all the apex stuff.

Another decent app is PocketReef. Good amount of IDs and basic if not thorough info on fish, corals, inverts and macros.

I don't really use them much, but here's what I'm aware of:

    Dose, by Seachem
    Reef Invertebrates Guide
    AquaTrax
Aquarium Definitions, I think (it's an acronym guide)

The one I do use is Aquanotes, designed to talk to my AC3.
And I like the annual MACNA app, that has all the speaker's presentations listed by timeline.

I might end up using a space heater of some sort in the fish room. A buddy of mine at work gave me a good idea. I have a small barn (about the size of a 1 garage with 2 stories) and I could put it in there if I wanted to heat the barn in the winter.

And you don't need heat in the basement for the wintery months? I've always wanted to put a potbelly stove in my home for wood-burning heat. I miss that, and don't have a fireplace.
