  1. Too much light?

Ever since I upgraded my tank from 2x55W PC lights, to 4x54W T5's my finger leathers, toadstool and various mushrooms and even my Zoanthids have been slowly dwindling! The finger leathers almost never extend polyps anymore and have shriveled up to half their original size, the Toadstool only opens it's polyps at night, and slow retracts them after the lights come on. And my mushrooms are slowly dissappearing! My Zoanthids have great colors, but are not spreading, in fact the colony has been shrinking. ...

  2. Where have I been?

Hi all, I know I haven't been around much for a few months. Life got kind of crazy on me.

First, after 8 months of marital hell my wife left me and Alaska to go home to Utah. We're working on the divorce now.

  3. Reef Sites in Seattle?

I'm going to be in the Seattle area for a few days, any sites of interest to a reefer? The public aquarium is already at the top of my list. I haven't been there since I was 7 years old, which was over 30 years ago.

    Thanks!

  4. Pistol Shrimp

Exactly 1 week ago I added a new clean-up crew to my tank. As part of the same order I got a little 1/2" long Randals pistol shrimp in the hopes that he'd pair up with my yellow head antenna goby. Well, I haven't seen him all week, till last night! There he was out in the open grabbing food, with one antenna on the goby

  5. Algae Scrubber

As many of you know, I've been slowly upgrading my 50 gal long reef. It's been plagued with algae issues since I inherited it nearly 5 years ago. Last year I added a deep sand bed and upgraded from 2x55W PC lighting to 4x54W T5HO. A couple months ago I added a sump, but no refugium. Due to limited space, I decided to try an Algae turf scrubber. So here's the construction photo's and updates on how it's working.
