  1. My new tank build up

I decided to upgrade my nano to one step up. I had a few requirements:

    1. Not too big. 42 x 24 X 20
    2. Had to blend into existing house and furniture. Where possible use existing items vs buy new and have it accepted by wife
    3. Have the system set up to be as low maintenance and automated as possible! Wife will not deal with tank related issues when I'm out of town on business!

So this is my story of the tank build up in San Francisco, Bay Area!

by , 01-20-2011 at 01:46 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
I'm alive, and so is Tibet. I've just been disgustingly busy lately and its not been favorable for the tank.

Just a quick update with some camera shots to keep the build alive. Tibet is now fully finished and fully cured. I'm just waiting on a few orders to come in to plug up the holes to do the first official water test.

Hack January 2011 FTS. Note all the bulkheads! Only missing 4 now. I cleaned out one of my LFSs on boxing day, and they still didn't have enough in ...

The bracing is still being added, so here are some shots of the first sets of bracing. The bottom has a small internal eurobrace, its about 1" wide.

The top bracing is still in progress, so far only half has been installed. ...

  4. December 2010 Tank Shot

Thank you to whomever slaved away to get everything working right again here!

Someone shared this with me, and I thought someone else might benefit from it. It's a beautiful video of clams in a greenhouse from Pacific East Aquaculture. This is the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1vlOXksMtY&

Anyways since last updated there has been some more progress on Tibet. On December 1st I snapped these shots in the morning with my phone. I later have come to realize ...

  5. It arrives!

by , 11-18-2010 at 01:18 PM (T.I.B.E.T (The Incredibly Big Expensive Tank))
The tank will hopefully arrive next week. This week its snowed every day all day, and its making getting around the city trecharous. Sadly its not always the weather conditions that make travel so difficult. I sit on the 25th floor and right now its white out conditions; I can't see the building next to us, or any across the streets.

Because I like driving around guzzling "cheap" gas in my trunk, I drove to the hardware store yesterday and picked up plywood for the tank ...
