  1. MAX this weekend

Hey reef addicts, this weekend is MAX - the Marine Aquarium Expo in Costa Mesa California. Each year, everyone converges on the Orange County Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday. I'll be there and would love to meet up with y'all.

My presentation on Sunday afternoon is "Pests in the Aquarium", sponsored by Seachem. Be sure to be in the presentation area at 1:30 p.m. so you can learn the good guys from the bad guys, and how to remove the vile pests from your tank.

  2. I totally didn't see them

One of my friends came over today to pick up his critters from the Keys Critters group buy, and spotted a mass of eggs flowing in the water. I hadn't noticed them, and if I had I would have assumed it was some white sponge, but he's obviously right. I'm guessing Chromis eggs, but really have no idea. Neat find, right?

  3. The reason for the leak

I'm not a tank builder so I don't about stress tolerances, but I did find why the water was coming out of the small hole in the seam. Here's the hole.

  4. OMG - the 400g is leaking

I'm sorry to report that the 400g tank is leaking. I was about to go to sleep, and thought I heard water splashing on the floor. And it was, unfortunately.

I caught this very early, well before the floor drain could work its magic, but for now the 400g has been drained about 50% for the night, and tomorrow I need to make some calls to see who can fix this locally.

  5. 29g Tank Update - SPS Freak!

My 29g has come a long way! I decided to go crazy with an all SPS tank. I got rid of several really nice corals and cut my rock way back, but I absolutely love the tank now! It hurt most getting rid of my Australian Gold Torch Coral, but I gave it to a friend up the road who I knew would take care of it and I'd still get to watch it grow and look great. :-)

I'm beginning to become a bit of an SPS Freak...

My filtering is currently about 30ml of Biopellets in a NextReef ...
