  1. Anemones Spawning - the rare kind of spawning

    Saturday and Sunday, I moved the livestock and rock from the temporary tank to the new ones. After mostly everything was cleaned up, the lights were out and I was quietly at my computer, I spotted the 60g aquarium looked cloudy from afar. Since the water was crystal clear, I was very surprised. With a flashlight, I quickly found that my anemones were spawning - releasing sperm into the water. This happens often enough, but what got me super excited was seeing eggs blasting around in the tank. ...

  2. Branching Tubastrea spawned!

    It's late, probably between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. and I still needed to feed the suncorals. The food was waiting nearby, thoroughly thawed since the majority had been fed to my reef earlier this evening. When the reef is dark the suncorals open up to feed, and as long as I feed them often they are predictable.

    When I feed the suncorals in my frag tank, I turn off all the flow and turn on the white light above to see those little hungry mouths. The deep green branching suncoral has ...
