  1. It won't stop growing.

I've been watching the staghorn coral grow upwards for the past few months. When the tip hit the surface, I figured it would stop. But when I looked more closely at the tip, there are about 8 corallites poking up even though they have nowhere to go. It's kind of funny.

  2. Added a Calcium Reactor

I did say the build was going to be a slow burn. But, I am on my final month of 0% interest on my credit card that got me though all the home renovations and new appliances… So why not splurge just a little?

I decided to go with a GEO 612 Calcium Reactor ...

  3. Flatworm infestation on....

A neon green hammer coral of all things! Has anyone ever experienced this? I'll try to put a picture up. Very mobile brown patches that irritate the tentacles making them over inflated to the point that you can't tell that it's a hammer.
  4. Apex settings I want / need, and what I'm going to do soon.

    Power failure:
When the power goes out and I'm out of town, I get an email & a text to let me know. What I don't get is a follow up to let me know power has been restored. If the power goes out at 2 a.m. I have to ask myself if I should call my tank sitter to head over to my place to care for the situation.... or should I hope it all took care of itself? I've got some code in my system but it doesn't do what I'd hoped. Terence gave me a suggestion using a low voltage wallwort plug and a ...

  5. How does Birdsnest coral spread?

After a cursory google search, I didn't land on a satisfying answer to how birdsnest shows up in different areas of the tank. It's an easy coral to frag, and can be glued where you like. It can break accidentally and grow where it lands. But how does is show up on the side of some random rock all of a sudden? Are polyps blowing around and landing elsewhere, growing new colonies? If so, that's news to me.

I spotted this little guy in April. Granted, it's low enough that there is ...
